If that’s the case, re-oil your rag. It’s also important not to over-saturate the wood. The wood should be damp but not puddle on the surface. If there are any puddles, wipe them away.

Allow the oil to sit for 30 minutes to an hour before wiping away excess fat with a clean, dry rag. Allow the wood to rest for at least 24 hours or until all of the oil has been absorbed.

In between layers, wipe the project area with 0000 steel wool or apply the next coat with #600 grit waterproof sandpaper for a super-smooth finish. Apply three applications of full-strength tung oil for the best protection, but you may always add more. Allow at least 24 hours for it to dry before using or laying anything on top of it. The tung oil coating may take a few weeks to fully dry and establish a robust and protective covering over the surface.
